The best part of playing the Paladin or Pally class is the ability to be a self healing tank. Another benefit of this class is the ability to hold aggro without using rage or switch forms like other tanking classes. Unlike other classes this one has the ability of having a mount that can be summoned at level 40. In addition they are able to become immune to damage for short bursts. The ability to bubble themselves or group members to protect them from damage is a highly useful and sought after ability. They are also able to resurrect other group members when they should die during combat. They are able to wield two handed weapons evoke stuns and are very effective against the undead and demon mobs. The downfall of this class is they are low dps in comparison. They are also not able to multitask completely and must focus on either tanking or healing. They can also only heal single target group members. It can also be a task to maintain various blessings, seals and auras for themselves and group/raid members.
Each paladin can only have one active aura at a time on each player. In groups or raids if there is more than one Pally they must coordinate which Pally will use which aura. A single Pally will decide which aura best suits which player during combat. These enable the group to withstand greater damage and have their powers enhanced during combat. They also wear plate armor enabling them to take hard hits and outlast other group members however; they are able to utilize all armor types. This class combines the use of melee fighting and spellcasting and is highly sought after as group members.
As a healer they are not very mana efficient as the spells utilize much of their mana pools. Similar to the warrior they are able to equip shields. The healing and defensive abilities make Paladins very difficult to kill in both PVE and PVP environments. Their healing capabilities allow them to take on several roles as needed within group dynamics. They can be main tank, off tank, healer or melee dps. The Alliance races that have the ability to play the coveted Pally are Draenei, Dwarf and Human. Draenei Paladins are best for raiding while Human Pallies do best in PVP. While the Horde that is bestowed the ability is Blood Elf and as of expansion pack Tauren. Rolling a Paladin as a first character may not be a person’s first choice due to slow leveling process.
